SLT: I can use similarity to define trigonometric ratios as properties of angles in a right triangle.

Opening Problems:

  • Two sides of a right triangle have side lengths 9 cm and 15 cm. What is the length of the third side of this triangle? (Hint: There are two different solutions to this problem).
  • In a right triangle, there is a 40° angleThe length of the hypotenuse is 20 cm. Find the length of each leg of this triangle.

On Monday, we checked our theoretical values from this chart:

Brainiacs Measurements

Then we started to fill in the “Fascinating Chart”.

  1.  The Similar Triangles Project is due by this Friday.

  2. Problem Set 3 is due by Thursday at 3:30 pm.

  3. Delta Math — practice using the trigonometric ratios.

Mr. Dunseith, Mr. Martz, and Mr. Simonelli will be at Help-Desks.
